Today is all about hair strands…

They might seem like meaningless details, but you’d be surprised how distracting they can be when they’re handled with half measures.

Not on ENDA’s watch!

In the video below, we introduce a new method for restoring hair: using a Constant as a base.

There are times when certain strands don’t carry much texture or lighting information; they read almost as a uniform colour.

That’s when a Constant becomes a smart way to optimise resources while still rebuilding convincing hair detail. After all, with a solid alpha and the regrain pass that comes later, those strands end up blending naturally with the rest of the hair.

Another helpful approach is using a detailed alpha to extract hair information from other frames in the shot. This complements the Constant method beautifully, and the result becomes especially convincing when you watch it played back from start to finish.

And with that, we can finally close the screen-left wire restoration… and start the work on the screen-right wire.

But that will be for a future episode.

So, stay tuned!

The journey continues...
