ENDA Episode 228 → The time when ENDA learned the importance of curiosity (Part 1)
The absence of answers did not create fear. It created interest. An interest called curiosity.
“I’m curious!”
That might be the expression that ignited the spark which led many of us into the world of VFX, or even into the arts in general.
The absence of answers did not create fear. It created interest.
An interest called curiosity.
The same curiosity that drove ENDA to begin his journey in film.
The same curiosity that pushed him towards 3D and animation.
And the same curiosity that made him take an even greater leap and set sail for the Grand Line of VFX.
It is difficult to describe how curiosity consumes you from within, but the closest image would be the one in the GIF below.
It usually starts with a simple question that appears out of nowhere:
How does this work?
Then that question begins to branch into others:
Why does it work that way?
→ What would happen if it did not work?
→ If I can make it work, can I reverse it?
→ What are the implications of the dos and don’ts?
Each main question gives birth to smaller ones, which begin to surround everything until you find yourself trapped within their branches.
Not out of fear, but out of awe.
Every question suggests that there is an answer waiting to be discovered. And it does not matter if every answer creates ten new questions. The joy comes from getting closer.
In a field as vast and constantly evolving as VFX, that drive to keep learning is one of the keys to surviving in the long run.
