After long hours, the interactive lighting on the hair is complete!
If we look closely, we also ended up taking advantage of the lighting to illuminate the face whenever the sword was close enough.
In the video below, you can see the final result and how the sword’s lighting matches the movement of the fire sword.
It was not just about moving masks. It was also about timing the changes in intensity during the characters’ frenetic motion, and knowing when to turn the interactive lighting on or off when the sword was not close enough to justify light on the hair or face.
It was long and tedious, but ENDA is happy to have learned more about how lighting works with animated light sources.
And that experience will be needed for the remaining body parts that still require interactive lighting.
But that will be for another episode.
