This node is called OFlow, and it shares several parameters with Kronos, while also running on the GPU.
Even more importantly, we can check whether there’s still room for improvement, and whether we’re respecting the look and intention of the original plate.
The Kronos plate feels much more fluid in its movement, while the Retime version, especially in the arms, feels slightly snappy and less natural.
To begin with, when a bullet hits a metallic surface, it creates sparks due to the heat and impact. However, there’s another secondary effect: residual smoke.
For starters, it analyses the motion in the footage to generate its own motion vectors, which already gives us a much cleaner result than the standard Retime node.
