ENDA Episode 96 → The time when ENDA faces a Logo Replacement shot (Part 5)
But after a mentoring session, a fresh idea emerged…
By this stage, our posters had gone through color matching, aging, warp–deform, and lighting adjustments. Now, they sat perfectly in place, and yet a new question surfaced:
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸?
Initially, I planned to lean on the usual method: drop in the warped poster and then dissolve a few reveal layers of the aging treatment, while using wipes for the other stages. But after a mentoring session, a fresh idea emerged…
Begin with the raw, undeformed artwork, then step through each effect: color grade, aging, lighting tweaks, and shadows. Finally, warp and place the fully treated poster into the live-action plate and restore the original reflections.
Visually, this means dropping out each stage in its own render layer, then rebuilding the posters in the breakdown. It’s a bit more work to set up numerous Nuke write nodes, organized backdrops, and setting up lots of layers, but the payoff is a breakdown that truly tells the story of every step.
Today, I can share a glimpse of that new breakdown, just one small segment of what will ultimately be a truly cinematic reveal.
So… stay tuned!
The journey continues…
