ENDA Episode 91→ The time when ENDA shares his Production’s Diary (Part 3)
Traumatic? Yes, at least a little bit. But filmmakers cope the only way we know: humor and credit rolls.
Previously we left a group of film students, crew and cast alike, staring down the barrels of a S.W.A.T. team’s rifles.
Their crime? Shooting an action scene in an abandoned beachside disco with prop guns that looked a little too real and extras that looked like real thugs.
Drop back into that frozen moment: one wrong move could have turned a student film into a headline tragedy. Fortunately, the remaining crew members kept their heads clear. They explained calmly and repeatedly that the “armed thugs” were just actors, the “weapons” they had were fake, and the whole setup was just a film shooting.
After a tense discussion (and a lot of palpated pulses), the officers accepted it was all a misunderstanding and holstered their guns.
Traumatic? Yes, at least a little bit. But filmmakers cope the only way we know: humor and credit rolls. When post-production wrapped, the team slipped a little nod into the crawl where they mentioned the name of the S.W.A.T division.
And the action scene you asked about? It turned out pretty good, almost as good as the other short film presented at the time. And yes, that one also has its own story, but that would be for another episode.
The journey continues…
