ENDA Episode 81→ The time when ENDA faces a Logo Replacement shot (Part 3)
Between the tricky camera movement, heavy motion blur, and a character crossing in front, getting a solid track wasn’t simple.
Last time, we focused on matching color and motion blur to set up our poster replacements. Now, it’s all about precise integration, starting with the tracking.
Between the tricky camera movement, heavy motion blur, and a character crossing in front, getting a solid track wasn’t simple.
So, we tackled this in Mocha Pro, assigning each poster its own tracking layer, where we used small masks to handle sections that might get lost if the character blocked part of the surface. We also created a separate layer for the character, ensuring it wouldn’t interfere with the poster tracks.
The result? A track that work in a 80%, but with enough to data to do small tweaks in Nuke and getting a clean track.
With tracking secured, we moved on to lighting details. Adding subtle, shiny edges and small bumps prevents the poster from looking like a flat patch, helping it blend seamlessly into the scene and giving it a sense of volume.
Recreating the contact shadow on the red poster was especially crucial because it shows the poster isn’t just a neat 2D surface but an object that responds to the scene’s light and interacts with the wall.
Now, the next step is to finalize reflections and, of course, handle that ever-present roto back, including more hair reconstruction.
So… stay tuned!
The journey continues…
