Previously… we talked about Visual Guidance and one key aspect: Flow Direction. You might be wondering why it’s so crucial to have arrows going mostly downward. The short answer? It fits our natural reading flow.

Most of us read from top to bottom, so it makes sense that your comp starts at the top and the final result is at the bottom. Everything in between represents how you arrived there. With a clear downward or horizontal flow, finding what needs adjusting becomes a whole lot easier.

Yes, it can feel like extra work to keep your script neat. But that extra effort pales in comparison to the hours another artist might waste trying to decipher a spiderweb of arrows. In production, every minute counts, and a well-organized script is worth its weight in gold.

But you know what else helps make a script even clearer to read?

Well, that is .... for another episode.

The journey continues…
