And I know… you think that taking notes on your phone or your laptop will be the same, but I can guarantee you: it won’t be the same.

“Always carry a notebook!” It is the summary of all this.

I remember this was one of the first phrases I was taught when I arrived in the New World. In the beginning, one might think it applies only when one is in school, but the reality is far more complicated.

When you are in a meeting or a dailies session, the supervisor or the client itself will begin saying all the changes in no particular order and hardly repeat themselves, because afterward they will have tons of other subjects or meetings to deal with.

So, if you do not have a notebook or do not know how to write down notes, you will miss the feedback and you will be in a very tight spot.

And I know… you think that taking notes on your phone or your laptop will be the same, but I can guarantee you: it won’t be the same. The speed and retention of information won’t compare with a notebook.

Another advantage is that carrying a notebook (or a notepad) to meetings or dailies sessions will always be seen as a sign that you are taking the sessions seriously and you do not want to waste anyone’s time by asking about the information you already discussed there.

In conclusion, “Always carry a notebook!”

The journey continues…
