In a previous episode, we worked on the screen-right shoulder to see how the paint-out worked as a whole with the rest of the patches in the first ten frames.

Today, it is all about working on the next ten frames.

One might think that it becomes easy once the base is already set. And you would be right… if this were a conventional paint-out shot.

But it is not!

Hair and face rarely stay still during a shot in which the character is descending, so a single patch will not work for the entire frame range.

In the video below, we can see that, over the next 10 frames, we need to build a setup around Frame 15 to serve as an in-between for the patches from Frames 10 to 13 and Frame 20.

Not to mention the setup for the earring on Frame 18 and the curved hair patch that runs from Frame 11 to 18.

At first glance, it may seem like we are exaggerating. But once we look at all the patches working together with the roto, the result is flawless.

The wire was never there.

And the organic movement worked like a charm.

And all that was just for ten frames!

The next ten will bring more surprises, but that will be for a future episode.

The journey continues…
