That is why getting the colour right for the interactive lighting becomes a step in itself.

The time has come to draw the interactive lighting for the shirt.

One might think that, after doing the hair, this should be much easier.

And one would be mistaken…

First of all, the shirt moves differently from the hair because it is connected to the arms and torso. Also, the texture and material absorb light in a different way.

That is why getting the colour right for the interactive lighting becomes a step in itself. 

In the video below, we can see how four colour nodes are necessary for that, with the last one being especially helpful for future animations.

Once that is done, it is all about shaping the light on the shirt sleeves and torso, not to mention controlling the falloff so the edges integrate properly with the plate.

For now, we managed to build the first ten frames with a simple arm movement. But things will change the more the body swings the source of light.

But that will be for a future episode.
