The world is big and full of questions.

Most of them are still unsolved, and the same can be said for VFX.

No shot is ever the same as the last. Even within the same project, you will eventually realise that there is no single method that can solve everything.

Even with all the scripts, all the templates, and all the pipeline support, you will always face a challenge that forces you to dive deeper into the why.

And that is where curiosity enters.

Sometimes we escape a challenge with the help of someone else. Other times, we manage to solve the issue, but we do not fully understand why it worked.

And not knowing the why can be dangerous in the long term.

It is curiosity, the desire to know and understand how everything works inside a VFX shot, that keeps us moving forward.

It is what allows us to discover new tools, find new uses for old nodes, and even gain enough confidence to help someone else.

That curiosity eventually helps you become a better artist. And, with time, it can take you towards becoming a Senior, or even a Supervisor.

All because you know more than just how to do something.

You understand why you are doing it.

And that difference can become essential for surviving in the long term.

But are these the only limits of curiosity?

Well, that will be for a future episode.

The journey continues...
