ENDA Episode 220 → The time when ENDA tells a little secret called: NNFlowVector (Part 1)
“ENDA, everyone knows about Smart Vectors.” Fair. But what if I told you there’s something that can be even more precise?
It’s a fact: we won’t always receive a motion-vector AOV with a CG render, and we definitely won’t get one from a live-action plate.
But what if I told you we can generate our own motion vectors from scratch?
I know what you’re thinking:
“ENDA, everyone knows about Smart Vectors.”
Fair.
But what if I told you there’s something that can be even more precise?
Enter NNFlowVector from Pixelmania, a third-party node that can do wonders using only the original plate.
In the video below, you’ll see that the controls are surprisingly straightforward, especially the Variant and Iterations parameters. Each adjustment affects the quality of the vectors, and once you’re happy with the result, you can export them as an EXR sequence for later use.
But the real question is:
Are these vectors good enough for motion blur?
That answer will be for a future episode.
The journey continues…
