ENDA Episode 149→ The time when ENDA expands a Star Wars set (Part 6)
By separating key elements into 3D cards, we’re not just organizing the shot, we’re revealing how each piece interacts spatially.
While the final breakdown is getting close, there’s one more thing we need to show: how things work in 3D space.
At first glance, it might seem unnecessary. After all, most of our work up until now has been 2D: keying, matte integration, edge treatment, etc. But in certain cases, especially with set extensions and layered elements, a 3D breakdown becomes essential.
By separating key elements into 3D cards, we’re not just organizing the shot, we’re revealing how each piece interacts spatially. Even if most of the elements are 2D, showing them with parallax and 3D depth helps guide the audience’s eye and showcases our knowledge of 3D as artists.
And more importantly, it gives us, the artists, another perspective to evaluate integration and depth cohesion.
Sometimes, the 3D breakdown isn't just a bonus; it's a vital storytelling tool.
Now that the structure is clear, it’s time to unveil the final breakdown…
But that will be for another episode.
The journey continues…
