ENDA Episode 137→ The time when ENDA volunteers as a tribute for the Hunger Games (Part 2)
Snow is still the president of a nation: he has access to makeup artists, doctors, and a carefully curated public image. So the goal isn’t horror, it’s subtle decay masked by dignity.
In our first foray into digi-makeup, we begin with the most fundamental step: skin decoloration.
As a quick recap for context: President Snow has spent years poisoning his rivals… and himself, taking antidotes to mask suspicion. But that routine takes a toll. Long-term exposure damages blood vessels, slows circulation, and reduces melanin, making the skin appear dull, pale, and prematurely aged.
The first sign? Loss of color.
And while it’s tempting to crank the dial to grayscale, restraint is key. Snow is still the president of a nation: he has access to makeup artists, doctors, and a carefully curated public image. So the goal isn’t horror, it’s subtle decay masked by dignity.
That means:
🔹 Preserving luminance: we soften saturation but maintain original light values to keep it grounded in reality.
🔹 Liver spots: these come naturally with age, but are accelerated in Snow’s case. We placed them strategically around the hairline and nose, avoiding obvious areas like the cheeks and forehead, to avoid suggesting an unrelated condition.
🔹 Beard desaturation: aging means whitening, not just hair loss. A simple masked color treatment helped us dial in that extra touch of wear.
This pass laid the groundwork for a believable transformation. And while we’ve taken care of the skin, there's a far more haunting feature still left untouched: the eyes.
But that is for another episode.
The journey continues…
