ENDA Episode 107→ The time when ENDA shares the importance of being part of a team (Part 2)
Questions aren’t admissions of weakness; they’re proof you care about getting it right.
In the last episode we saw why every VFX shot lives inside a vast pipeline, and that being part of a team calls for more than solo heroics. One of the simplest and most powerful ways to prove you’re a teammate is by asking the right questions.
Questions aren’t admissions of weakness; they’re proof you care about getting it right. When you pause to clarify a brief or dig deeper into a technique, you’re showing:
Eagerness to learn: You’re open to absorbing new methods from your peers and seniors rather than settling for “good enough.”.
Humility and flexibility: Your pride takes a back seat to growth, and you adapt when someone has a better way to solve a tricky shot.
Approachability: By seeking guidance, you let others know it’s safe to collaborate, so the next time someone else has a question, they’ll come to you.
Over time, a habit of thoughtful questioning transforms an “OK” artist into a “must-have” artist, one who gets tapped for bigger projects and earns promotions because supervisors remember who was eager to learn and easy to work with.
Mastering the art of asking takes practice, but the earlier you begin, the more natural it becomes. And that’s just one piece of being a team player…
What other habits keep a VFX crew humming?
Well, that’s for another episode.
The journey continues…
