ENDA Episode 00→ The time when the Endless Apprentice learned that it didn’t have to be VFX
It wasn’t until very recently that I realized something that basic and I think that it is the core of all my journey so far: it didn’t have to be VFX, but I chose VFX.
I will admit that VFX wasn’t always my first choice and like any other kid I dreamed of having different professions (doctor, lawyer, musician, etc), and probably any of them could allow me to live a relatively comfortable life in my country. However, I chose VFX in the end, even knowing that the path would be harder.
It wasn’t until very recently that I realized something that basic and I think that it is the core of all my journey so far: it didn’t have to be VFX, but I chose VFX.
I could have stayed as a filmmaker or a screenwriter when I graduated college, but my desire to work in the VFX industry, made me continue my studies.
I could have stayed as a post-producer in my first job, but I chose to quit so I could learn more about the VFX industry at another school.
I could have listened (and still could) to the insistence of my friends and became a film or animation producer and maybe I could be earning lots of money today, but I knew I would not be happy because even if I was good at it, it didn’t make me fulfilled.
I could have abandoned all when the writer’s strike left me and many other artists without job prospects, but I chose to stay on the path, because even with all the difficulties I knew this was the career I wanted.
That sole decision brought me to a difficult path where I struggled, but it also allowed me to meet many different artists from different backgrounds and learn all kinds of new things from them.
And that’s who I am or part of who I am still trying to be, I’m not knowledgeable enough to be a master, but I do have the drive to keep learning even if it is an endless path, so if you see me you could call me the Endless Apprentice or to put it simply: ENDA.
Have you thought about the reason for your journey?
